Beginning with the chic and stylish SO/Auckland, check out these sizeable group hotels in the sunny city of Auckland, known for its pretty harbour
From the Grand Mercure Auckland to the Cordis Auckland, these group hotels in New Zealand’s largest city are used to hosting large groups of travellers

SO/Auckland
First up on our list of Auckland group hotels is the chic SO/Auckland, which has 130 rooms and suites. Its fabulously modern feel is down to a collaboration with New Zealand fashion house WORLD. Think statement chandeliers and gold carpets.
The 16th floor HI-SO bar, meanwhile, boasts stunning views of Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour, as does the Harbour Society restaurant.
It’s located in the cool and trendy Downtown district; the Auckland Art Gallery is four minutes away by car. Furthermore Auckland Airport, New Zealand’s busiest, is 34 minutes away by car.
-
Cordis Auckland
Next up, with 409 rooms and suites to its name, it’s the Cordis Auckland. Be sure to check out the steam, sauna and ice shower at Chuan Spa, not to mention the heated outdoor swimming pool, the jacuzzi and gym. You also can’t miss the barbecued seafood at the celebrated Eight Restaurant.
The Cordis Auckland, like SO/Auckland, is around 34 minutes in the car to the airport, and the same can roughly be said for the other two hotels on our list. Meanwhile, the Auckland War Memorial Museum can be reached in nine minutes by car.
-
Grand Mercure Auckland
Third, with 189 rooms and suites, we have the high rise Mercure Hotel Auckland, just a block from the waterfront, with its array of dining and drinking options. Also, the New Zealand Maritime Museum is only an eight-minute walk away.
There’s a gym and a fitness room (where you can follow exercise classes on a large screen); follow your work out with a meal at Vue, which serves European-Pacific fare and boasts 13th floor views. You might also wish to catch the view from the nearby Sky Tower, measuring 328m. It is just a few blocks away from the Mercure.
Back at the hotel, business travellers will be interested to know the hotel offers nine meeting rooms and a maximum banquet capacity of 150 people.

M Social Auckland
Last up on our list of group hotels in New Zealand’s biggest city is the M Social Auckland, which boasts 190 rooms and suites across 12 levels. All have fabulous views of the harbour as the hotel is front-facing.
Indeed, the hotel is once again located by the waterfront – in fact, it’s even closer to the New Zealand Maritime Museum than the Grand Mercure Auckland.
Its on-site restaurant is the casual Beast and Butterflies, serving ‘eclectic Pacific’ dishes and coming complete with an outdoor terrace.
Auckland Zoo is 12 minutes away by car, while the Museum of Transport and Technology is 11 minutes. But you can’t visit Auckland without arranging a boat trip to either Waiheke Island for vineyards and zip lining, or Rangitoto Island, with its striking volcano.
Stay tuned! In our post due next week we will talk to you about group hotels that are great for trips to Sydney, Australia you might be planning! Are you planning a group trip sometime in the near future? Then let’s make the booking!
