From Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort to the Hyatt Regency Orlando, these huge group hotels offer great accessibility to the theme parks of the city.

Orlando, Florida is one of the most-visited US cities, so of course there are countless giant group hotels to cope with demand – here are 5 of the best.

  1. Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort

The largest of all of Orlando’s group hotels, Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort boasts 2,200 rooms that are perfect for families and groups of all sizes. The suites sleep up to six, complete with kitchenettes that include a microwave and a refrigerator. This budget-friendly three star is of course part of the Universal Orlando complex, meaning all the individual parks are highly accessible. It’s known for the beautiful Cabana Courtyard and Pool, and the Galaxy Bowl bowling alley. It still feels box-fresh after its 2014 opening, with a retro 60s/70s vibe running throughout the resort that’s at once throwback and modern.

  2. Orlando Marriott World Center

Shortly behind Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort in terms of size and scale is the Orlando Marriott World Center, with 2,009 rooms. It’s a four star hotel with no less than seven suite types: all with a sofa bed for additional guests, and many with balcony views of the hotel’s 18-hole golf course and swimming pool (which has two 200-foot waterslides). There’s also a full service spa on site, plus a shuttle service to Walt Disney World available for guests.

  3. Hyatt Regency Orlando

One of Orlando’s most centrally-located group hotels, the Hyatt Regency Orlando has 1,641 rooms across 32 levels. This actually makes it the second-tallest building in metropolitan Orlando. It almost doubled in size after a massive 2010 renovation. For on-site dining, you could try Floridian food at Urban Tide or perhaps grab a steak at the Fiorenzo Italian Steakhouse. For classic American comfort food, head to B-Line Diner. You’ll see groups of business travelers as well as families and groups of friends here, as the hotel is connected to the massive Orange County Convention Center next door, which hosts huge conferences every week.

  4. Grande Lakes Orlando

With 1,584 rooms all boasting opulent luxury, Grande Lakes Orlando – comprised of a JW Marriott and a Ritz Carlton Orlando – is one of the world’s leading luxury group hotels. Take the Royal Suite, covering 3,804 square feet: it has three bedrooms, seven private balconies (with views of the lakes and golf course), a walk-in closet, a dining table for 10 people, a pantry and a personal butler service! Meanwhile, there are no less than 12 dining options to choose from, plus 500 acres of parkland to explore.

  5. Rosen Shingle Creek

Finally on our list of group hotels in Orlando is the four star, 1,501-room Rosen Shingle Creek, which covers 255 acres. Of the rooms, 191 are suites. It has a distinctive style, combining Spanish and 1900s Floridian tones. Be sure to check out the 13,000 square foot Spa at Shingle Creek, the 18-hole golf course, four outdoor swimming pools, two tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball court and nature trails. Indeed, the grounds are steeped in natural beauty, with Shingle Creek acting as the headwater of the stunning Florida Everglades. Indeed, this is the perfect spot for exploring the diverse natural landscapes of the second most popular US state for tourism (behind California) – not to mention the theme parks!

From the Hotel Pennsylvania to the Row NYC, these are the most gigantic hotels in The Big Apple with rooms for groups!

Whether traveling as a family or a business, these NYC hoteling behemoths are used to offering rooms for groups – the largest has 1,931 of them!

  1. New York Hilton Midtown

Our first hotel is so iconic, it’s hosted every US President since John F. Kennedy. New York City’s largest hotel, located within walking distance of Central Park, the Museum of Modern Art and the Rockefeller Center, boasts a mammoth 1,931 rooms. This popular four star can also lay claim to the impressive achievement of having the largest hotel fitness centre in Midtown, clocking in at over 8,000 square feet. For brick oven pizzas and seasonal salads, try the hotel’s resident restaurant Herb N’ Kitchen.

  2. New York Marriott Marquis

With 1,877 rooms for groups, the second largest hotel in New York City is another four star and once again enjoys an amazingly central location, among the bright lights of Times Square. Meanwhile, attractions such as Madame Tussauds and Radio City Music Hall are only a stone’s throw away. The hotel’s glamorous restaurant The View specialises in group dining; serving traditional and modern American cuisine, it is the city’s only revolving restaurant, turning 360 degrees every hour and offering an inimitable view of the city at 48 stories.

  3. Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel

Another Times Square icon, the largest Sheraton in the city offers, across 52 stories, 1,781 rooms for groups, couples, solo travelers and more. It also has its own Starbucks coffee station. All rooms boast 37 inch flat screen HDTVs and the exclusively-developed Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed, known for its high cotton count sheets and feather down/hypoallergenic pillows. If you’re organising business travel, you might be interested to hear about the 11,000-square feet of meeting space at lobby level. There’s also the Metropolitan Ballroom, holding up to 2,000 guests. Lastly, the hotel also has its own Starbucks coffee station.

  4. Hotel Pennsylvania

All the 1,700 rooms at this hotel feature mini-refrigerators, flat screen TVs and work stations.

There’s also a full-sized gym, indoor pool, sauna and steam room at Tap Out facility next door. Dine on steak at the hotel’s The Statler Grill, or grab a light bite at the City Perk cafe in the lobby, which is open an impressive 24 hours a day. Nearby attractions include the Empire State Building, Macy’s department store and Madison Square Garden.

  5. Grand Hyatt New York

Among the Grand Hyatt’s 1,311 rooms are 51 suites, ranging in size from 600 to 3,500 feet, perfect for families. As well as rooms for groups, the hotel has over 50 meeting rooms and 55,000 square feet of meeting space. Plus, the business centre, as well as the fitness centre, are open 24 hours a day. Dining options include Manhattan Sky for a buffet breakfast and a la carte lunch and the Commodore Grill for American continental cuisine each evening.

  6. Row NYC

The Row NYC has 278 Standard Rooms, 472 Superior, 208 Deluxe City View, 208 Premium City View, plus 4 Executive Suites and 2 Penthouse Suites. That’s a total number of 1,331 rooms, across 28 floors. Each offers 32-inch flat screens with complimentary cable and HBO, plus black out window shades, multi-sense shower heads and towels and toiletries by PURE. The Row NYC is also home to the inspired City Kitchen food market, which sells fare from many of the city’s most buzzed-about restaurants, meaning you can take several bites out of the Big Apple without ever needed to leave the premises.

The tour is open 7 days a week. Anyone intending to visit Alcatraz should book a ticket online in advance from the official ticket site which is www.alcatrazcruises.com. Tours can book up several days in advance, but it is easy to go online to purchase and print tickets. With tickets in hand, proceed directly to Pier 33, Alcatraz Landing on San Francisco’s Embarcadero. Plan on arriving 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. The only line you need stand in is the boarding line for your tour. No printer, no problem. Purchase tickets online and write down your confirmation number. Arrive at Pier 33 a bit earlier than the requested 30 minutes and go directly to Will-call. Your confirmation number and photo id are all you’ll need to get your ticket and be on your way.

Alcatraz’s most interesting tour is probably the Alcatraz Night Tour in which tourists are able to take the regular self guided walking tour (with the aid of headphones narrating the story of Alcatraz — sometimes by the prisoners themselves who inhabited it) after all of the day visitors leave. Many of the rooms (such as the dining hall) are only faintly lit by moonlight, making the eerie sounds of clinking dinnerware you hear in the headphones during your tour particularly creepy.

The Alcatraz Night Tour operates year-round, Thursday-Monday evenings. The evening includes roundtrip ferry transportation, a live boat narration, a guided tour from Dock to Cellhouse, the Cellhouse Audio Tour, a keepsake souvenir brochure, and a variety of special presentations. Tickets are available online and children under age 5 are free. Proceeds from the Night Tour support preservation and restoration projects on Alcatraz and throughout the National Park. Additionally, the later Indian occupation of Alcatraz is chronicled through your tour guide, short films as you exit the prison, and many items in the gift shop before you depart the island. Plan on spending about 2.5 hours from your departure to the island to your arrival back on San Francisco Pier 33.
