Urban Trek is a unique sightseeing and walking tour of San Francisco because it offers you a better feel for how the locals live. You will walk the streets and take the public transportation San Franciscans use, and have a meal or coffee where the locals hang out. It is like having a friend (not just a tour guide) telling you about the city and showing you the best places in the city to visit, eat, and find delicious desserts. It provides you with a better opportunity to enjoy the sights instead of usual drive by tour. It limits the number of trekkers to make sure everyone can have the best experience.
The Trek Leader who is a long-time San Franciscan will provide you with informative commentaries about San Francisco and the various sites you will see during your Guided Tour of San Francisco. * It is made as easy as possible for anyone to join by limiting the number of uphill walks and incorporating frequent rest stops. * It is fun and unpredictable! * It is an eco-friendly way of touring the City, and because it is a hiking tour there won’t be a tour bus using up gas, polluting the air, and adding to the traffic congestion. * It offers a healthier alternative for sightseeing. You will get a good exercise from walking. This is a way to stay fit while on vacation.

The tour is open 7 days a week. Anyone intending to visit Alcatraz should book a ticket online in advance from the official ticket site which is www.alcatrazcruises.com. Tours can book up several days in advance, but it is easy to go online to purchase and print tickets. With tickets in hand, proceed directly to Pier 33, Alcatraz Landing on San Francisco’s Embarcadero. Plan on arriving 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. The only line you need stand in is the boarding line for your tour. No printer, no problem. Purchase tickets online and write down your confirmation number. Arrive at Pier 33 a bit earlier than the requested 30 minutes and go directly to Will-call. Your confirmation number and photo id are all you’ll need to get your ticket and be on your way.
Alcatraz’s most interesting tour is probably the Alcatraz Night Tour in which tourists are able to take the regular self guided walking tour (with the aid of headphones narrating the story of Alcatraz — sometimes by the prisoners themselves who inhabited it) after all of the day visitors leave. Many of the rooms (such as the dining hall) are only faintly lit by moonlight, making the eerie sounds of clinking dinnerware you hear in the headphones during your tour particularly creepy.
The Alcatraz Night Tour operates year-round, Thursday-Monday evenings. The evening includes roundtrip ferry transportation, a live boat narration, a guided tour from Dock to Cellhouse, the Cellhouse Audio Tour, a keepsake souvenir brochure, and a variety of special presentations. Tickets are available online and children under age 5 are free. Proceeds from the Night Tour support preservation and restoration projects on Alcatraz and throughout the National Park. Additionally, the later Indian occupation of Alcatraz is chronicled through your tour guide, short films as you exit the prison, and many items in the gift shop before you depart the island. Plan on spending about 2.5 hours from your departure to the island to your arrival back on San Francisco Pier 33.

It is Silver Lion Service passion to offer a tour program that caters to individuals, who prefer private intimate day tours, for 1 to 6 guests. All tours are customized and can be adjusted to our guest’s desires even while already on the tour. Their tours are extremely flexible and designed to feel as if a friend is taking our guests on a sightseeing tour. In fact many of their guests have become their friends.
Silver Lion Service goes where others don’t go. Most other tour companies do not service many sites because busses and tour vans are prohibited to go there. Silver Lion Service can go anywhere with their 6 passenger private family vans. And they visit places that are too specialized for other tour companies.
If Silver Lion Service guests want to stop for some shopping, to take pictures, have a break, enjoy the site a little longer… no problem, they stop without rushing them. Silver Lion Service know’s how to create memorable vacation experiences.

The City Segway Tour is a good way to get acquainted with a big and hilly city like San Francisco. The advantage of the Segway is that you get the same close “eye level” view of the city as you would walking, but you are able to cover more ground and get more comprehensive picture of the layout. The City Segway Tour website at City Segway Tour allows on-line booking of the $70.00, three hour tour.
The tour lasts for three hours, travelling first the mostly flat streets of the financial district. You will see the famous Parrots of Telegraph Hill, the original Levi Strauss factory and the TransAmerica building. You will then head down to the waterfront to see the Embarcadaro and all the famous sites in San Francisco Bay- Alcatraz, the bridges, historical boats and piers.

For more than 35 years, the 750-foot-tall Tower of the Americas has offered residents and tourists of San Antonio, Texas, the most breathtaking view of the Alamo City – visitors dine at the Tower’s revolving restaurant or enjoy the scenery from the observation deck. Now, Landry’s Restaurants, Inc. has taken the experience to a whole new level. Among the improvements are an upscale eatery, banquet facility and a Texas-themed 4-D, multi-sensory theater.
The tower weighs 80 million pounds, and has 952 steps to get to the top. The “top house” is so well balanced that it takes just a 1 horsepower motor to rotate the structure. The tower’s restaurant at the top is named “The Eyes of Texas”. The “top house” (the round revolving structure at the top of the tower), is 76 feet tall. The height of the concrete shaft (which is partially hidden inside the top house), is 605 feet tall. The external observation deck can accommodate a maximum of 340 people, while the internal deck can accommodate 500 people. At 800 feet-per-minute, it takes only 43 seconds for the elevators to climb to the top. The restaurants occupy 10,150 square feet, the observation levels are 8,800 square feet, while the stairs, elevators, and mechanicals occupy 1,150 square feet.

The Riverwalk is a MUST DO in San Antonio!! Get on at the RiverCentre Mall and take the 30 minute journey through San Antonio. A great way to see this vibrant City (Bexar county residents get a generous discount – show your ID when purchasing tickets).
Although the main downtown area is only 1 mile in a circuit, the river extends much further north and south. The depth varies between 2 and 5 feet in the ‘controlled’ section between the floodgates, but is much deeper – between 19 and 24 feet outside. The control gates are raised during storms to prevent the shallow section from flooding.

As you enter the Pioneer Memorial Museum, you literally walk back into history. Here are the belongings of a hardy pioneer people who migrated 2,000 miles west across the plains from Nauvoo, Illinois, and from all parts of the world to seek religious freedom and to build a great city of Zion in the Salt Lake Basin.
The artifacts of the pioneers may surprise you. While the museum displays plenty of necessary objects fashioned out of the scarce resources available in Utah, the pioneers also leave a material record of remarkably ornate decorative arts. They carefully tended their luxury items — as small and delicate as crystal salters or as large and cumbersome as pianos — all the way across the continent. The museum displays many of these treasures that reminded them of “home” or their loved ones they were leaving behind. Also, pioneer craftsman were astoundingly adaptable to the materials available in Utah, making gorgeous pine furniture and painting it in a fashion that makes it look like more expensive wood, such as mahogany. Early Utahns also owned some of the finest goods available at the time, brought in either with ox team or by railroad later. From rugged, homemade utilitarian objects to elaborate Victorian decor, you can see the full range of the material record of the resilient pioneers at the Pioneer Memorial Museum.
